Alta Vista rules Sta. Lucia golf
CEBU - Alta Vista Golf and Country Club stormed the Davao leg of the Santa Lucia Golf Tour over the weekend piling up a total of 52 points at the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club.
Alta Vista won the title in two categories and finished as first runner-up in one.
The duo of Victor Gocela and Irina Gabasa ran away with the title in group 1 scoring a total of 206 points in two rounds with 99 and 107.
First runner-up honors for the premiere category went to Vincent Gumapac and Jessie Tan of the host club with a two-day output of 195 on rounds of 95 and 100. Second runner-up went to the tandem of Antonio Villaruel and Bart Borja of Eagle Ridge with 191 (98-93).
In group 2, Egay Gilles and Ronald Galicia of Palos Verdes won the title with a total of 181 points on rounds of 89 and 92.
The tandem of Ramon Sebastian and Richard Lim of Alta Vista finished as first runner-up by a hairline as they scored 180 points on rounds of 84 and 96. Second runner-up for the class was the team of Allan Alegre and Mike Poobalan from Summit Point with a total of 179 (91-88).
Another run away win was scored by Alta Vista in group 3 as Deo Gabasa and Benedict Uy combined for 162 points on rounds of 80 and 82. Deo is the father of Irina.
First runner-up was the team of Steve Terazona and Nelson Chua of Royal Tagaytay with 153 points edging Alta Vista’s Nestor Mendoza and Gerry Quintos by virtue of a higher second day score.
Alta Vista earned 15 points apiece from the wins in groups 1 and 3, 12 for the first runner-up finish in group 2 and 10 points for the seniors’ class.
Palos Verdes is running second in the race for overall club honors with a total of 46 followed by Eagle Ridge with 38, Royale Tagaytay with 28, Orchard 26, Summit Point 16, Lakewood 14, and Caliraya Springs 5.
The tournament uses the Molave Points System. The second leg is set at AVGCC early next month.
Individual
Alta Vista players also took home some of the individual awards.
Enrico Solon topped the championship category with a two-day total of 91 points on rounds of 47 and 44.
Irina Gabasa’s two-day effort of 107 points (51-56) easily earned her the class A plum with Dennis Canoy also of Alta Vista taking second place with 102 (50-52).
Gerry Quintos won the class C plum with a total of 86 points on rounds of 45 and 41.
