Lamac scores twinkill in Consolacion hoopla

-

Brgy. Lamac kicked off its championship campaign with twin victories at the start of the 2008 Consolacion Fiesta Cup Basketball Tournament at the Consolacion Sports Complex.

Brgy. Lamac whipped Danlag, 48-28, in the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) division, while its sister-team had to pass through the wringer before eking out a 54-51 win over Jugan in the Inter-Barangay category.

In the SK battle, Lamac was ahead by only a matchstick, 9-8, but held off Danlag to a paltry two points in the second period while firing in 20 to suddenly blow the game apart with an imposing 19-point advantage, 29-10, at halftime.

Lamac further wobbled the hapless Danlag when it padded its lead to an eye-popping 31 points at the end of the third quarter, 45-14. Danlag outscored Lamac in the final canto, 14-3, but couldn’t prevent the former from coming up with a lopsided triumph.

Organized by Paul Alelu Q. Flores, a former star of FEU Tamaraws in the UAAP, and Aurelio Eslawan, Jr., the two-month cagefest is strongly supported by the municipal government of Consolacion under the leadership of Mayor Avelino Gungob, Sr. and Vice Mayor Ember B. Alinsug.
