The Athletes for Christ through Excellent Service (ACES) bucked off a sluggish start to turn back Philweb, 83-59, at the resumption of the 6th M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala Under-21 Developmental Basketball League at the Consolacion Sports Complex.
Philweb went off to a 4-0 start, but the ACES were consistently chasing in to eventually forge a 17-all deadlock with three minutes left in the first period.
As Philweb remained silent on the offensive end, the ACES made a 6-0 bang to close the opening session with a 23-17 advantage.
It was an all-ACES show from thereon, closing the first half with a 15-point edge, 43-28.
Philweb trimmed the deficit down to a dozen points, 48-60, but the ACES unleashed a decisive fouth-quarter attack, 23-11, to come up with a 24-point demolition.
The champion in the M. Lhuillier Sports Development Foundation (MLSDF)-organized tournament will receive P5,000, while the second and third placers will get P3,000 and P2,000, respectively. Since it is an event for a cause, the prizes will be donated to charitable institutions of the winners’ choice.
