Carter, Bartolo rule 3rd CDU Run

Madelyn Carter feasted on the absence of the other seasoned runners to rule the women’s division of the 3rd Cebu Doctors’ University Run…Run For Sight yesterday at the CDU Mandaue City campus.

Carter, who topped the Cebu leg of the 32nd National Milo Marathon last month, completed the 10-kilometer action with fastest time of 41 minutes and 48.56 seconds, almost a minute ahead of second-placer Miscell Gerboyna who clocked in 42:35.43.

Christy Sevilleno, the most dominant female runner a few years back, could only make it to third spot  in 43:12.78.

In the men’s open, lesser known Elmer Bartolo reigned supreme with the time of  32:20.89. Philip Duenas came in second in 32:20.89 followed by Ayan Bernedo at 33:05.27.

In the 10K doctor’s category, Yong Larrazabal completed a grandslam finish with the time of 45:12.58. He was trailed by Glenn Cang in 47:30.96. Vicente Verallo was third at 50:39.06.

In the distaff side, Dr. Emely Estrada claimed the top spot  in 57:04.30. Susan Trani wound up second in 1:02:02.86 followed by Nicole Chua in 1:02:45.77.

In the 10K All-CDU employees, Arcadio Postrero clinched the title, while Roger Nadela and Charlie Berberio placed second and third, respectively. Mary Grace Bautista was unopposed in the women’s class.

Former RP triathlon team member Abet Biagan bagged the first place in the 5K all-CDU male students. He logged in 19 minutes and 42.30 seconds to edge out Christopher Alota (19:54.57). Lindsey Gantiongco was third in 20:48.12.

In the women’s bracket, Hannah Hotelano ran away with the top honors in 32:17.82 followed by Marie Mantos with a 33:43.20 clocking. Anna Mae Go ended up third with the time of 34:09.59.— Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
