AC Sports clinches Triple A cage crown

-

The AC Sports shot down the Triple-A All Stars, 64-54, to clinch the championship of the Triple A Summer Basketball League last Sunday at the Kimwa gym in Mandaue City.

AC Sports led by just two points at the end of the third period, 49-47, but former pro cager Larry Villanil spearheaded a fiery 17-5 uprising to break the game wide open.

Villanil drew huge support from Rany Cruz and Ajie Quijano in orchestrating the crippling endgame assault. Villanil and Quijano finished with 12 points apiece for AC Sports.

Adriano Gogo led Triple A with 14 points, while Nilo Romagos added 10 points.

Meanwhile, the AC Sports defeated the McMill for its fifth win in seven starts in the Guadalupe Athletic Association (GAA) 9th Founder’s Cup at the Guadalupe Sports Complex.

Rene Escuyos scattered 30 points as AC Sports assured itself of a quarterfinal spot.

Sam Llevado and Danny de la Peña paced McMill with 21 and 19 points, respectively.

In the other GAA games, Evan Hulga Hardware thumped Aqua Serv, 80-76, Sign Post bested MGR, 70-64, while SWAN shocked the much-favored Pecus Stallions, 75-63. (GGM)
