UV, SWU in Lutopan

The University of the Visayas Green Lancers and the Southwestern University Cobras will play a friendly game today at the newly-refurbished Carmen Copper Corporation (CCC) formerly Atlas Mining in Barangay DAS (Lutopan), Toledo City.

When the two squads tangle in the main event, the two squads are fresh from their campaigns in the Asian University Basketball Championships (AUBC) held at the Cebu Coliseum. At this writing, UV is battling the China (represented by Huaquiao University) for the championship.

The game in Lutopan serves as warm-up for the CESAFI tournament that kicks off next month.

UV is the defending seven-time champions and will gun for its eighth title this year. SWU, on the other hand, has shown it has the manpower to thwart UV as evidenced by its conquest of the latter in the final of the National Students Basketball Championships (NSBC) earlier.

`The much-improved Greg Slaughter will again carry the cudgels for UV. He will have the support of Von Harry Lanete, Chris Diputado and Ritchum Dennision. SWU will counter with Clifford Maguate, Janno Nunez and Alfred Belande.

The Carmen Copper CSD team will play the Toledo All-Stars in the curtain raiser. (GGM)
