Mandaue Jaycees rules JBA hoopla

The Mandaue Jaycees of Joey Cal completed its unbeaten run with an 80-77 whacking of RC Goldline-Alcatel of Chris Paroan in the knockout final to snatch the title of the Jaycees Basketball Association (JBA)  President’s Cup 2008 last Tuesday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

The Mandaue Jaycees proved too hot to handle for RC Goldline, unleashing its ultimate firepower in the fourth period where it took a commanding 67-50 lead. The closest RC Goldline could muster was at 75-79 behind the late rally instigated by Dave Lim and Dennis Que with 46 seconds to go.

  As usual, the trio of Nestol Patindol, Edgar Colina and Pewee Garcia brought the heaviest damage on RC Goldline. Patindol finished with 22 points, while Colina and Garcia each chipped in 10 markers. Que paced RC Goldline with a game-high 26 points followed by Lim with 12. John Sulay added 11 points in a losing cause.

In the battle for third place, Cebu Dencraft of playing coach Boy Te hamered Landview Property, 86-74.

Jimbo Noel spearheaded Cebu Dencraft’s offensive with a tournament-high 33 points. Joseph Jayme donated 17 points, Peter Sta 12 points and Boy Te 10.

Pocholo Lao and Michael Hing each scored 17 for Landview.
