Y101 Corporate Cup tees off today at CCC

-

The 2nd Y101 Corporate cup tees off today at the par-72 Cebu Country Club with around 40 teams set to see action.

The tournament will be using the Modified Stableford Scoring System and players will be allowed to use three-fourths of their current handicap.  A team can field a maximum of four players, but only the three best scores will count for the total.

The tournament is organized by radio station Y101 FM and features the top players of Cebu along with several guests from Manila and other parts of the country.

At stake for a hole-in-one on all par-3 holes are a Ford Focus and P100,000.  There will also be a Zhongshen motorcycle for an ace on hole number 15, said Joseph Stevens, one of the organizers.

A ceremonial tee off was held yesterday with Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama hitting one of the three drives.

Also hitting ceremonial drives were Douglas LuYm, president of Cebu Country Club, and Martha Tuason, CEO of  Y101.

The scoring format awards six points for a double-eagle, five for an ace, four for eagle, three for birdie, two for par, and one for bogey.

A player, who is playing for no more point must pick up to speed up the play.

Stevens said that Armscor will have a special promotion on the par-3 hole no.5 where dartboard will be painted on a section of the green and Armscor products will be given for those who will hit the designated areas on their tee shot.

Cocktails were held last night at the veranda of CCC to kick off the event.

The awards ceremony will be held tomorrow evening at the CCC ballroom.

Participants will be divided into three categories – Gold, Platinum and Silver.

Stevens said that the classifications will be made based on the scores of the teams on the first day.

The participants will get a windfall of giveaways including a Philips Go Gear MP3 Player and several giveaway items from the organizers and sponsors.

Armscor is also raffling off 25 firearms for the awards ceremony.  Other prizes are assorted appliances and electronic equipment, cellular phones, and trips.—Nimrod NL Quiñones
