Blue Marlins dominate CCSC swimfest

The Cebu Blue Marlins proved to be a gracious host, but were also fierce competitors as they dominated the 1st CBM-Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) Novice Age-Group Swimfest 2008 recently at the CCSC Aquatic Center.

CBM outdone eight other squads after earning 63 golds, 33 silvers and nine bronzes.

Aside from that, CBM got all but one of the Most Outstanding Swimmer awards.

CBM’s Angel Torres and Rian Tapang ruled the girls and boys divisions of the 6-under class, while Matthew Cañeda dominated the 7-8 class.

The other age-group top performers were Michael Ichiro Kong and Gisele Bagano (9-10), Arman Baria and Janica Tan (11-12), Chargen Bautista and April Garcia (13-14),  Jiff Laude and Jennifer Sembrano (15-17), and Asher Enriquez and Denise Sembrano (18-above).

The Splashers Swim Team finished second overall with four golds, 28 silvers and 17 bronzes, while Negros Oriental Blue Dolphins Swim Club bagged the third place honors with 4 golds, eight silvers and eight bronzes.

The Bohol Dolphins Swimming Club landed at fourth place with three golds, 10 silvers and seven bronzes followed by Childlink Swim Team with three golds, two silvers and a bronze.

The one-day tilt was supported by F.F. Sibi Printers, JIB Industrial & Auto Parts, Jollibee, Dunkin’ Donuts, InterMed Marketing Inc., Nature’s Spring, Fine Impressions, Island Paints, Flaminia Realty, Talisay Aqua City, and Betty’s Bakeshop.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
