Cebu City once again floated in the international map of dancesport after it garnered four golds in the Blackpool Dance Festival recently in Blackpool, England.
Victoria Alix and Renante Saldua snatched two golds via the senior pre-championship and the four-dance battle, according to Team Cebu City-Dancesport publicist April Tudtud-Ramos.
“It was a very tough British competition that they joined in. They were against almost a hundred couples in many heats,” said Dancesport-Team Cebu City Director Edward Hayco in a text message to The Freeman yesterday.
On the other hand, the tried-and-tested tandem of Crisaldo “Loloi” Rendon and Eleanor Hayco grabbed the two golds via the senior open latin and four-dance latin action.
Prior to the said event, Hayco and Rendon also reigned supreme in the Richards England-Birmingham action. Hayco and Rendon ruled the senior latin defeating five other couples from England .
Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña could not contain his happiness over DTCC’s feat, proving once again that the support they gave to the team has not been put to waste.
“We should be proud of the fact that we are the only local government unit that has a dancesport team.I have this great ambition of winning an Olympic gold in the future,” Osmeña said.
