Team RCAF of Romy Faunillon outlasted Coke Zero of businessman Allan Lim, while LBSM overpowered the much-favored Garfield to set up a title showdown in the Punta Princesa Sports Association (PPSA) basketball tournament at the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial gym in Brgy. Punta Princesa, this city.
Faunillon had 10 points in RCAF’s 106-92 victory over Coke Zero, while the LBSM salvaged an 87-76 decision over Garfield.
RCAF relied on the deadly one-two punch of Dandre Baclay and Alwen Tabasa in booting Coke Zero out of the championship race. Baclay fired a season-high 30 points, while Tabasa charted 24 markers. Rommel Garcia and ex USJ-R Jaguar Freddie del Campo, now a CESAFI referee, connived for 20 points.
Robert Abasolo and Lito Navarro each had 28 points for Coke Zero.
In the other game, Rowel Sumalinog had a breakaway game scoring 30 points for LBSM, while the indefatigable Inting Bacalla and Bong Panique banged in 17 and 10 markers, respectively.
Garfield got 16 points from Danny Estrera and 13 from Rocky Bacalso.
