Rodriguez rules Summer Senior Fellowship Golf
Joe P. Rodriguez fired nines of 40 and 41 for a gross 12-over-par 81 to win the title in the 2008 Summer Senior Fellowship Golf Tournament played at the Mercedes Plantation Golf and Country Club in the northern town of
Rodriguez of the host club edged Karl Herbich of Club Filipino Incorporada de
Herbich however took the title for the Young Seniors class as he scored a net 63.
Pete Cantillas of Leyte Golf and Country Club was second with a net score of 68 pulling past Pete del Rosario of Mactan Island Golf Club in the countback. Del Rosario settled for the 2nd runner-up honors.
Ed Misa, president of the host club, proved how it was comfortable playing at home shooting a tournament-best net score of 61 strokes to top the Mature Seniors class.
First runner-up for the group was Rolly Santos of Alta Vista Golf and Country Club with a net score of 67 in the Frankie Miñoza-designed course. Second runner-up honors went to Romy Ancajas also of MPGCC with a net score of 69.
James Gaite of Cebu Country Club won top honors for the Super Seniors class with a net score of 63 while Amado Villadar of the host club was second with 66 and Fel Ventulan of Mactan, who lost via the countback, finished third also with 66.
Tony Teves of Mercedes won the guest division title for players, who have not yet reached the age of 55 years old as he shot a net score of 62. Runner-up honors went to Jojo Dosado with 64. – NLQ
