All set for San Remigio beach volley

Cebu's top caliber beach volley players will once again try to outwit each other through the 1st San Remigio Beach Volley Open this weekend at the San Remigio sand courts.

Eight teams will vie for the coveted championship led by the newly-crowned Nestea Beach Volley champs Florianne Gutierrez and Janelle Tabio of Southwestern University (SWU).

Tipped as their strongest challengers to the throne are the fancied University of the Visayas (UV) tandem of Jusabelle Brillo and Janez Armie Igot.

The rest of the school-based entries are Danika Gendrauli and Ericka Camille Verano of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), and Jeremie Montalvo and Juvie Glipo of the University of San Carlos (USC).

The commecial squads include Marites Natad and Christine Rose Bohol of the Volley Gals, Marissa Lagancia and Kennette Garces of Volleybelles, Michelle Gemarino and Desiree Valiar of Atenians, and XOXO's April Tamayo and Irene Montesino.

The champion will pocket P5,000, while the second and third placers will get  P3, 000 and P2,000, respectively.

The two-day beach volley action is organized by San Remigio Vice Mayor Nino Bascon in cooperation with the GUV CUP/Cebu Volleyball Association (CEVA) under the leadership of Glen Anthony Soco. – Marigold P. Lebumfacil
