Ave Maria stretches unbeaten streak to six in Vic hoop
Ave Maria Sanctuary Park slammed Roble Shipping, 105-84, to move one win shy from sweeping its elimination round assignments in the Vic Enterprises 2008 Invitational Basketball Tournament at the CEC gym.
Dindo Paciño had 18 points as Ave Maria firmed up its grip of the overall lead with an immaculate 6-0 record. Danrey Baclay had a game-high 26 points for Roble Shipping, which is still winless in six starts.
In the other games, 100 Plus Isotonic Drink ran over the Mitsubishi, 74-67, while the Cebu Lite Trading came back to life with a 94-86 demolition of the Cyber Rasta.
Bonjing Mendoza and Lando Luces showed the way for 100 Plus ( 2-3) with 16 points apiece, while Matt Zamora and Dennis Jayme had 18 and 17 points, respectively, for Mitsubishi (2-4).
Former SWU Cobra Elmer de la Cruz and Vincent “Inting” Reyes, on the other hand, finished with 16 points each for Cebu Lite (3-2), while Jimbo Noel and Lito Navarro chipped 27 points combined.
In the main game of a featured quadruple-header, Unilink upended Golden Lines Shipping, 79-73, to grab the solo second place.
Martin Grogard once again paced Unilink with 27 points. Fo the first time in six games, Opel Cabaltera submitted double figures leading Golden Lines with 15 points.
