Genergex slams JV Shop N Shop in Winners League

Genergex banked on a 35-point explosion of Brian Gabasa to scorch JV Shop N Shop, 71-60, at the start of the 2008 Winners League Basketball Tournament last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Genergex raced to a 20-11 start and kept a five-point edge, 33-28, at the intermission.

Dexter So and skipper Vincent Sy, however, spearheaded a daring third-quarter breakaway to push JV Shop N Shop on top by two points, 50-48, entering the payoff period.

But that was JV Shop’s only bright moment at Gabasa completed his heroics by spearheading a game-closing 23-10 rally to vault Genergex to an 11-point triumph.

PJ Iway banged in 13 markers for Genergex, while So was the lone double-digit scorer for JV Shop with 20.
