International bodybuilding competition tonight at Gran Con

-

In an effort to promote sports tourism in the country through the sport of bodybuilding, Workout Fitness Center holds the 2nd Asia-Pacific International Bodybuilding Championships today starting at 5 pm at the Grand Convention Center of Cebu.

Close to 30 musclemen, including seven from host Philippines, are all set to  show off their well-chiseled muscles. The rest of the participants are from the United States, India, Pakistan, and New Zealand.

Yesterday, all the contestants displayed their physiques to the panel of judges during the pre-judging held at the East Tambuli Resort.

Event organizer Dennis Delgado said the pre-judging is done for judges to have an exclusive look on the bodybuilders. Today’s finals  will just be a replay of their performances during the pre-judging.

Meanwhile, Rey Panzo of Manila topped the masters category during the national team selection last April 22 at the Teatro Casino of Waterfront-Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

Dennis Delgado of Cebu topped the juniors, medium and mixed Pairs, while Josephine Teria, also  from Cebu, won the Ms. Fitness, Ms. Physique and mixed pair categories.

Jonathan Casinero of Manila prevailed in the tall category and Jerick Ternida, a California-based Filipino, lorded it over in the short category.

They all form part of Team Philippines that will go up against the best bodybuilders of the Asia-Pacific region tonight.—Marchie Jane C. Trangia
