Firefly nails second win in Tabunok hoop
Firefly Lighting pulled an 88-87 squeaker over Team Colis to stay unbeaten after two games in the open division of the 6th Barangay Captain’s Cup 2008 Basketball Tournament at the Tabunok Gym in Talisay City.
Colis was in control of the match in the early goings and took a 46-40 advantage at halftime.
The big-hearted Firefly cagers, however, turned the tables on their opponents in the final half, grabbing the driver’s seat at 79-78 with less than three minutes left to play.
Colis knotted the count at 85-all, but Marvin Abapo knocked in a booming triple with 23 ticks left before the final buzzer to vault Firefly to a hairline victory.
Veteran commercial players Aldrin Ocañada and Milfred Sampilo topscored for Firefly with 27 and 22 points, respectively. Abapo chipped in 15 markers.
