Rose Pharmacy chessfest slated

Cebu’s top chess players are all set to outwit each other in the 2008 Rose Pharmacy Chess Tournament on April 26-27 at the SM City-Cebu Entertainment Plaza.

Close to P10,000 in cash prizes are at stake in the open division of the two-day tilt following the 7-round Swiss System format.

The champion will receive P3,000, while the second and third placers will get P2,000 and P1,000 respectively. The fourth and fifth gets P600 and P400, while the sixth to 10th finishers will receive P200 each.

Registration fee is pegged at P100.

Competition in the kiddies-juniors division will commence at 10:30 am on April 27.  The top winner will pocket P500, while the second, third and fourth take home P300, P200, and P100. Entry fee is P40.

At 2 pm on the 27th, the April edition of the monthly Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA) tournament will take place still at the same venue. Registration fee is pegged at P150.
