Barria scores an ace at Alta Vista

“This is not an April Fools joke.”

Word about the hole-in-one scored by Bobby Barria yesterday had to be accompanied by that message as he aced hole No. 13 of Alta Vista Golf and Country Club yesterday.

Barria, a former University of San Carlos basketball varsity player, used a Taylor Made No. 5 iron club and a Titleist Pro V No. 4 ball for the feat.

Raul Encarnacion, Gerry Quintos, and club director Ricky Aznar witnessed the ace scored on the 165-yard hole, which features bunkers on the front and left of the green.

The ace was Barria’s second but his first at Alta Vista, according to Encarnacion, who immediately reported the ace to The Freeman.—NLQ
