Kings, Nets breeze through semifinal round in CUBA cage tourney

-

The Kings ripped the previously undefeated Nets, 77-62, in the clash of league leaders in the 2008 Cebu United Bankers Association (CUBA) First Conference basketball tournament at the Our Lady of Sacred Heart Parish Gym along Escario Street, this city.

The loss did not bring any negative effects to the Nets as they’re already assured of a spot into the crossover semifinals together with the Kings. They both sport 4-1 win-loss records.

The Kings trailed by eight after the first period, 15-23, but countered with a blistering 17-6 rally in the second quarter to grab the lead at halftime, 32-29, for good.

The Kings sustained their momentum to blow their lead to twin digits, 53-42, that bubbled into a 15-point margin at the final buzzer.

In the other game, Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) waxed hot right from the start to scorch Wealth Bank, 82-63.

The RCBC cagers posted a commanding 45-30 advantage at the break that wobbled Wealth Bank the rest of the way.

Wealth Bank pulled within 11 points, 60-49, but RCBC closed the match with a 22-14 bang for the 19-point rout.
