The Golden Lines Shipping and Ave Maria pulled off hard-earned victories over separate foes in last Sunday’s opening games of the 2008 Vic Enterprises Invitational Cup basketball tournament at the CEC gym.
Golden Lines Shipping squeaked past Cyber Rasta, 80-78, while Ave Maria grinded through an 80-74 victory over the Unilink Shipping in a similar down-the-wire finish.
Of the three games last Sunday, only the DMP-Mitsubishi won in lopsided fashion against Roble Shipping, 78-69.
Former commercial player Aristotle Jayme amassed 24 points for Golden Lines, while Alex Armenion chipped in with 14 points. Tournament commissioner George Uy contributed eight points.
Rocky Bacalso led the Cyber Rasta with 18 points followed by Ryan Velos with 15 markers.
Unilink Shipping, on the other hand, had three players scoring in double figures led by Martin Grogaard with 28 points. (GGM)
