PBC to hold try-outs in Cebu

Cebu’s seasoned and upcoming bowlers as well as the other potential athletes from the Visayas and Mindanao area will get a chance to be part of the Philippine team as the Philippine Bowling Congress (PBC) holds a two-day elimination this weekend at Gaisano Bowlingplex in Brgy. Banilad, this city.

Aside from being a resident in Vis-Min region, those who are interested to join the try-outs must have a valid passport and at least a graded bowler based on the latest PBC listing of averages for the first quarter of 2008.

Registration fee is pegged at P2,000 per player.

The participants will play a total of 20 games, 10 both in long and short oil.

Game time on Saturday is set at 7 pm, while Sunday’s games will start at 2 pm.

All the bowlers are advised to be at the playing venue at least 45 minutes before the scheduled roll-off time. Latecomers will not be allowed to bowl on the frames they have missed.

Elvis Lee of the Gaisano Bowlingplex disclosed there are two slots available for female bowlers in the RP training pool and one for the men’s side.

Those who will make it to the training pool will be further trained together  with the other potential bowlers. They will possibly get a chance to represent the country in twe major international competitions - the Asian Bowling Championships on July 4-13 in Hong Kong and the World Men’s Championships on August 21-31 in Bangkok, Thailand.
