Senabre hurdles first round scare in Prince tennis

-

Paulo Senabre of Don Bosco College had to pass through the wringer before pulling off a nerve-wracking 8-7 win over Christian Dale Son of Mandaue Christian School at the start of the 2008 Prince All-Students Tennis Tournament yesterday at Alta Vista Golf and Country Club tennis courts.

Senabre was joined into the second round by Cyril Camporedondo of the University of the Visayas (UV) and Jayvee Canoy and Joseph Tallo both of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R).

Camporedondo kicked out UV-Pardo’s Norman Enriquez,8-2, while Cano and Tallo bested Franklin Encarnacion of Dumanjug and Ariel Torion of the University of San Carlos (USC) with similar scores of 8-3.

Lowell Cañete became USC’s saving grace after he crushed Maasin City’s Kevin Calapre, 8-3.

A total of 96 entries joined the two-weekend tilt. The secondary boys recorded the most number of players with 30.

Trophies and tennis accessories will be given away to the top performers of this Prince-sponsored competition through Sports Resources Incorporated. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
