The Neighboring Barangays Sports Association (NBSA) opened the 2008 season of its annual basketball tournament the other day at the Mabolo Sports Complex. A total of 14 teams will contend for the championship.

The participating barangays from Cebu City North District are Kamputhaw, Parian, T-Padilla, Tejero, Hipodromo, Kamagayan, Lorega, San Antonio, Sta. Cruz, Zapatera, Day-as, Carreta, Barrio Luz and Mabolo.

The competition is divided into three categories:midget (17-under), juniors (34-under), and seniors (35-above). Varsity and commercial players are prohibited from joining the tournament.

The NSBA cage league aims to develop the hoop kills of aspiring hoopsters up to the grassroots level. It also envisions to promote camaraderie and physical fitness among barangay leaders.

Brgy. Mabolo is the host of this year’s edition of the annual athletic meet under the leadership of Brgy. Mabolo Chief Executive Rey Ompoc. He will be assisted by Efren Sanico as commissioner.
