Esmalin, Baco rule ‘By Invitation’ cycling

Hyde Esmalin and Japo Baco topped the latest outing of the “By Invitation” Race at the Mandaue City reclamation area the other day.

Esmalin defeated Nonoy Abasola for the top post. Loloy Berdin ended third followed by Nani Quijano and Rudy “Apraytis” Mendoza.

Baco, on the other hand, ruled the combined class B and C action.

This event came up after the hard-working organizers of the Road Cyclists of the Month Series could no longer take the “corpo,” a local term for corporation of some veteran and seasoned cyclists around.

For them, the corpo could ruin the real sense of competition when the local races every weekend was supposed to be done not only for fun but also to hone the skills of upcoming racers.

This is a practice that concerned individuals don’t want to tolerate any longer. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
