2nd Cherifer cagefest off Mar 1-2

The 2nd Cebu leg of the Cherifer Tangkad Sagad 12 under basketball tournament kicks off March 1-2 at the Don Bosco covered court.

Cebu leg organizer and coordinator Britt Carlo Reroma said he is expecting an increase in the number of participating teams this year compared to last year as those who have already participated found the tournament so exciting when it comes to exposing their kids to basketball.

Last year, the Cebu leg of the annual Cherifer caging drew 17 teams and could increase to 25 teams this year with the entry of  Cebu Eastern College, St. Alphonsus Catholic School in Lapu-Lapu City, St. Anthony Learning Center, San Roque of Liloan, Danao City-Time Out, Sirlitz Clinic, Immaculate Heart of  Mary School and Mambaling.

Cherifer is a growth-boosting vitamin for kids. It’s a product of the InterMed Marketing Philippines and ventures on sports activity such as basketball with Bernard Ocampo as national organizer and San Beda junior winningest coach Edmundo “Ato” Badolato as tournament director.

Aside from Cebu, the other legs include Metro Manila, Davao and Pampanga.

The USC-North Campus of Coach Roland Remedio is the defending champion with Sacred Heart School-Jesuit as runner-up last year.

The first Cebu leg last year was participated by almost all known schools in the city.

The list include Don Bosco of Coach Rey Villagracia, Consolacion Central School of Delfin Pepito, PAREF-Springdale of Peter Sta. Maria, Philippine Christian Gospel School of Coach Velez, Power Play Clinic of Larry Villanil, Royal Oaks International School of Clint Mondano, Sacred Heart School-Jesuit of Ramel Rasmo,  (now coached by Bon Rosito).

Completing the list were Salazar Institute of Technology of Jojo Romarate, Talamban Elementary School of Boy Remedio, USJ-R-Basak of Edito Salacut and USPF of Camilo Go. (GGM)
