Bambi Cooking Oil and two other teams also jumped into the winners’ podium during last Sunday’s opening of the 2008 K Gallery Basketball League First Conference at the Visayas Glass Gym in Brgy. Guadalupe, this city.

Bambi Cooking Oil of coach Ryan Betia and team captain Frederick Castañeda made a big turnaround in the windup to turn back Sam’s Moondogs, 75-68. In the other games, Daks Kakain pulled off a 59-57 upset over Atan Guardo-Sherilin Plastics, while Don Alejandro’s dumped Diakon, 72-60.

>From that point on, Sam’s Moondogs dictated the tempo of the match until Bambi Cooking Oil staged a tide-turning rally in the final three minutes of the contest. A crucial triple by Jethro Dejaño with less than a minute to play sealed’s Bambi’s victory.

Mike Yong topscored for Bambi with 20 points followed by former USC Warrior Vernini Tangarorang with 13.
