‘Mamang Pulis’ shootfest opens today

The Chief Philippine National Police (CPNP) “Mamang Pulis” Cup (Invitational 3-Gun Match) opens today at the Cebu Pistol and Rifle Association (CPRA) range in Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City.

No less than PNP Director General Avelino Razon will be on hand this morning to fire the ceremonial volley kicking off the event.

This competition is a Philippine Practical Shooting Association (PPSA) level II sanctioned event.

Set to participate will be the different Police Regional Offices and National Support Units aside from the gun enthusiasts.

Police Supt. Rey Lyndon T. Lawas told The FREEMAN yesterday that those who want to join the competition can just proceed to the range this morning and sign up.

Entry fee is pegged at P1,000 for civilian entries in the handgun competition and P500 for personnel of the PNP and Armed Forces of the Philippines and also government employees.

The entry fee for the shotgun and rifle category is P400 for civilians and P200 for the PNP, AFP and government employees.

The competition features a total of 13 courses of fire – 8 handgun, 3 shotgun, and 2 rifle.

The minimum number of rounds of ammunition needed for the handgun event is 193 while there is a minimum of 23 rounds for shotgun and 30 for the rifle class.

This is a fund-raising event for the PNP’s Shelter Program to benefit the homeless personnel under the “Pulis Kalinga” quartering project.

The host of the event is Police Regional Office-7 headed by Chief Supt. Ronald Roderos.
