Davilla, Reynante lead ‘Tour Ni Frank’ entries

-

Cycling enthusiasts are expecting a fierce duel between former Tour ng Pilipinas champion Warren Davadilla and reigning Tour Ni Frank champion Lloyd Lucien Reynante this Sunday.

This developed as the two top cyclists head the elite field that will answer the starting gun when the 6th Tour Ni Frank kicks off at the CICC grounds.

Davadilla has been absent, for more than a decade, from Cebu cycling races but has kept himself in tiptop shape by racing in Manila. He hopes to stop Reynante, the reigning champion, for the dominating the tour again this year.

With the participation of Davadilla and Reynante, tour organizers led by Frank Gatdula, decided to create Class A to accommodate Davadilla, Reynante and other elite riders. Padyak Pinoy 2007 titlist Victor Espiritu was originally on the list, but begged off due to his commitment in the UCI World Cup in Los Angeles, California.

Aside from the explosive Davadilla-Reynante duel, another battle royale is looming between defending Class B titlist Ernie Hortaleza and 1986 Marlboro Tour champion Boy Pagnanawon.

In another development, organizers have announced a change in the schedule. The road race from Danao to Lugo (Sogod) will be moved to Saturday. The other road race, from JY Square to Buak starts at 6 am on Sunday, while the criterium will be at 1 pm at the CICC grounds.

Sponsors of this race include the LUZVISMIN Racing Team, VELLUM, the City of Danao, Danao City Sports Commission, VICIKLETA, ROCKA#1 Bikeshop, www.cebucycling.com and the Mark Ylanan Group.

Entrance fee is pegged at P100. For more information, please call or text 0920-825-7192 or 0927-258-4619.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
