UC Tankers compete in Dinagyang swimfest

-

The University of Cebu-Cebu Blue Marlins Swimming Club will compete in the Iloilo Dinagyang Age-Group Swimfest 2008 at the Iloilo Sports Complex on January 25 and 26.

The Cebu-based club will send at least 20 swimmers.

Among the bets are UC’s best swimmers Paula Abigail Vega, Michael David Vega, Noel Cañeda, Trina Cañeda, and Mary Arlette Baller.

The other members of the team include siblings Anthony Linn and Lyh Ann Navarro of Cebu Eastern College, Kaitlin Capacio and Madelin Capacio of St.Theresas’ College, Beth May Arellano of Subangdaku Elementary School, Nicolas and Jonas Chiong of Don Bosco, Serge Patrick Biscocho and Danielle Angela Biscocho of Maria Montessori Children’s House.

Rounding up the team are Isaias and Israel David of Guadalupe Elementary School, Robin Jacobsin of St. Thomas Aquinas, and Karen Indaya of Labangon Elementary School.

One of UC former varsity swimmers and RP triathlete, Eldy Banluta, who is now with Marco Polo Hotel, will bolter UC-CBM’s bid along with Renan Tapang, Anthony Navarro III, Albert Wong and Aimee Sanchez.

Coach Rolando Alvarez is not making any medal projections because he doesn’t know the competition, but promises to inspire his swimmers to give their best.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
