Newcomers top Sinulog BMX showdown

-

Two newcomers from Mandaue City surprised the veterans and the rest of the BMX community after dominating the 8th Sinulog BMX Showdown and 2nd Sinulog Moped Bike Street Show-Back2Back Festival at the Cebu Grand Hotel, this city, the other day.

Manuel Teomale and Denny Marquez finished 1-2 in the BMX flat land freestyle competition, relegating Charstone Retuya of Cebu City to third place. Two other riders, Larry Avila and Jake Fred Garces completed the top five.

Rico Tindugan won the top prize in modified class of the moped bike show while Geoffrey Suldua and Eddie Escote won the second and third places, respectively.

The other winners were Rupert Connock, who won the best-customized bike over Elwin Abella and Alfero Subang. The superstock’s best bike went to Wave X with Tecson Alexis bagging second place and Motoworks taking the third place.

Swapang, T-Back, CLR, FR, U-Bone, TSR, Mad, OPR X Racing, Styla, Cyrus, Plaza Boys, Club Motorista, South 46, Hoxc, Oye!, Underbone, 4S Racing and ACCR teams competed in the event.

The Cebu BMX Riders’ Organization hopes that the competition will revive BMX competitions in Cebu that hibernated for more than two years.

Target, Viper, Oz Racing, Charles Racing, Type E, Davies, DDM Motors, Newstar Motorcycle Parts Supply and Moto-fix supported the event. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
