RP Paralympics team off to Thailand

-

The 110-member Philippine Paralympic Team, including three Cebuano athletes, left Manila yesterday for the 4th ASEAN Paragames in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo personally bid the athletes good luck during a courtesy call Malacañang Palace last Friday.

The team left the country a few days before the game starts to acclimatize and familiarize themselves with the playing venues, mostly the same venues used during the 24th Southeast Asian Games last year.

The games officially open on January 20, with competitions commencing the next day, and the closing ceremony slated on January 27.

Cebuano athletes Arnold Balais, Noel Gonzales and Roselyn Ocampo will be fielded in different events. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
