Cebuano junior tennis player Jacob Lagman may have lost the battle in the 16-under division, but he definitely got back on solid ground after winning his first assignment in the 14-under category of the 19th Andrada Cup Age-group Tennis Championships at the Rizal Memorial tennis courts yesterday.
Lagman clobbered Mark Jerome Santiago 6-0, 6-1 for his first win, and most importantly, advanced to the quarterfinals where he will face either Argil Canesarez or R. Joseph today.
The lopsided victory made up for Lagman’s debacle in the 16-under division the other day. Lagman, a graduating pupil of St. Benedict Childhood Learning Center, will be campaigning in the 14-under category because he is turning 13 this April.
Niño Siso, another Cebuano junior netter, has ruled the 14-under division and Lagman could extend Cebu’s dominance in the said division. —Caecent No-ot Magsumbol.
