Thank you for a great year

Merry Christmas everyone!

Another year is about to pass and I’d like to thank everyone who made this year great. The greeting also goes for those who did not make it as good, but then overall I’d say that the year was wonderful – it’s always a matter of attitude.

To our bosses and my colleagues at The Freeman, to my news sources, to my readers, to those who share their views, to family and friends, and to everyone else thank you for helping me become what I am now.

I wish you all a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones.

Somebody asked me what would be my Christmas wish? 

I told him I wish I won’t be in pain this season due to my herniated disc that has changed my life since I found out about it.

There have been a lot of expert and friendly advices how to deal with the problem.

I know that wishing that I can still play my favorite contact sports like football and judo would be like asking for the stars, but that does not mean I can’t enjoy them anymore even without having to enter the pitch or be at the mats.

I realized that being around people who care never fails to lessen the pain and I’m sure my family and friends would be there to give me that comfort that I’d say is always the best gift I receive for Christmas.

I received email from my good friend Peter Militante about the Sacred Heart School Alumni Annual Golf Tournament 2007 that tees off at the Cebu Country Club on the 26th.

Entry fee is pegged at P1,500 for members of the host club while non-members will be assessed P2,000.

This is open to alumni of Sacred School for Boys (now Jesuits) and guests of the alumni.

The strokeplay format will be used for the tournament, but those without official handicaps will play in a special division using the Callaway system.

Guests of the alumni will compete against each other using the System-36 format.

This year’s event is hosted by class 1982 and tee off starts at 6 a.m.

To share our blessings with the less fortunate, my classmates from the University of San Carlos South Grade School class of 1981 will be heading to the Don Bosco Boys Home in Cotcot, Liloan today.

This is our yearend project along with the giving of gifts to inmates of the city jail, who are undergoing training in technical skills also under the supervision of Don Bosco.

We’d like to thank our classmates, who donated for the event and our benefactors like Hapee Toothpaste through my compadre Jack Huang and the International Pharmaceuticals Inc.

We hope to do more of these activities in the coming years.

MILESTONE: A lot of people used to mistake me for him or him for me, but then the reason is that this special greeting goes to my brother Nereus David, who a one time looked very much like me, but for our skin color.

Nereus, who is now in Dublin, Ireland, is turning a year older on Monday.  Happy birthday and more power!
