UC shares lead in reinforced Partner’s Cup
The UC/Aspac Bank nearly paid dearly for being complacent in the second half but managed to eke out a precarious 95-90 victory over the gritty CIT/Metro Gaisano in the Reinforced Partners Cup last Sunday at the Talisay gym.
Earlier, in the showdown between winless teams, DBTC/Unilab-Alaxan chalked up its win after an 83-75 upset of USPF/R. Lapid’s Chicharon.
The tournament takes a Christmas respite starting today to allow players to celebrate the Yuletide season with their families in their respective home provinces. The tournament springs back into action on January 6 at the Cebu Coliseum.
A battle between youth and experience highlighted the UC versus CIT match with Jun Mar Fajardo holding his own against former pro Jerry Jaca, one of the reinforcements of CIT.
Youth prevailed with Fajardo outscoring Jaca 27 to 24 points, to give UC/Aspac Bank a share of the lead with USJ-R Bibbo Hotdog.
Both teams are now toting a similar 3-0 record but will go separate ways when they collide in the featured game as the tournament resumes on January 6. (GGM)
