Arthro chalks second win in NBC

Arthro Kontra Arthritis unleashed a furious attack in the final half to pummel Zamboanga, 103-89, and tally its second win in as many games in the 2007 National Basketball Conference (NBC) Pagadian Invitational Cup in Pagadian City.

The victory was a rousing follow-up of Arthro’s 86-73 conquest of Manila-Tagaytay the other day.

This time, Arthro of longtime sports patron Jonathan “Atan” L. Guardo and coach Al Solis personified team effort with five players dishing out twin figures led by Mark Jonas Ababon with 15 points. Alex Cainglet had 14 followed by Doroteo Almacin with 13.

Bernie Ursal and Rino Berame each scored 12 for Arthro, which struggled at first to suffer a one-point deficit, 17-18, after the first 10 minutes of play.

After grabbing the driver’s seat at halftime, 42-41, Arthro went on a rampage, clobbering the Zamboanga cagers in the third period, 33-24, to take a double-digit lead, 75-65, heading into the last quarter.

Arthro never looked back from there and went on to seal a 14-point romp.
