Siso siblings, Kintanar book final tickets in Langkawi net

-

Lady luck continued to smile at the three Cebuanos left in Malaysia as all of them reached the championship round in their respective divisions in the Langkawi International Age-Groups Tennis Championships, the last leg of the 2007 Malaysian Junior circuit.

Bernardine "Niño" Siso of the University of San Carlos (USC)-South Campus spared no mercy against Ahmad Deedat, 6-2, 6-0, to clinch the final berth in the boys 14-under class.

In the distaff side, Niño's younger sister, Sally Mae, also booked a final ticket after demolishing Maya Mametguliyeva, 6-4, 6-1.

Niño Siso will tackle Syed Agil Naguib in the championship, while Sally Mae is still waiting for her final opponent as of this writing yesterday.

The Siso siblings, who are supported by Prime Structures, USC, Dunlop, Tavos Sports, and Guardo Group of Companies, actually target a double victory as they also hurdled their semifinal assignments in the doubles competition.

Niño and partner Hanifah Rahizam dumped Mhud Vaim and Ahmad Deedat, 6-1, 6-1 to set up a title showdown with Err Yan of Malaysia and Bradler Lucas Lai of Singapore.

Not wanting to be outdone, Sally Mae and Maya Mametguliyeva of Turkmekistan also breezed to the final round after whipping Kazakstan's Wan Gem and Kairan Buyeva Salima,6-0, 6-1. They will take on a Korean pair for the gold.

The other Cebuano survivor, Krissianne Kintanar, also kept her sizzling performance with an 8-4 victory over Nur Tasmin Mohammad. She went on to defeat Korea's Kim Na Yong in their thrilling three-set battle, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 to ease into the girls 10-under final.

Kintanar will square off against another Korean bet Kim Da Bin in the championship. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
