Netters haul 7 golds, 1 silver in Perlis

The onslaught of Pinoy junior netters in the Malaysia circuit continued yesterday even as organizers declared the singles finalists in the 10, 12 and 14-under divisions of the Perlis International Age-Group Tennis Championships as co-champions due to rain.

Perlis has been experiencing heavy downpour, for the last two days, making it impossible for the finals matches to continue on the wet and slippery tennis courts.

With the ruling, Cebu’s Sally Mae Siso, her brother Niño, won the girl’s and boys’ 14-under crown, respectively. Krissiane Kintanar bagged the gold in the girls’ 10-under category and Marian Capadocia stood tall in the girls 12-under division.

Sally Mae, Niño and Capadocia ended up as double champions after winning their doubles final matches while Kintanar earned silver in the girls 10-under doubles match.

In all, the Pinoy netters hauled seven golds and a silver in the Perlis leg of their Malaysia stint. The Pinoys now move to Langkawi for the last leg where they are poised to win more medals.

The decision of the organizers to declare the singles finalists co-champions benefited Theviya Selvarajoo, who alternates as Sally Mae’s double partner. Selvarajoo was lucky not to suffer another beating from Sally Mae. From the first leg up to Perlis, Selvarajo has yet to win a set against Sally Mae.
