Julia’s Resto chalks first win in Lucky Tableware cagefest
Julia’s Resto pulled a 79-70 victory over the Visayan Ballers for its first win in the Lucky Tableware Regulars Basketball tournament at the Visayan Glass Gym in Guadalupe,this city.
Mark Villagonzalo, a former Cebu Institute of Technology Wildcat, led Julia’s Resto attack, especially in the fourth period when the Ballers tried to rally in the fourth quarter.
Julia’s took command early in the game and extended its lead in the third period with a 10-0 run orchestrated by MJ Rodriguez.
Not giving up, Visayan Ballers, behind Paul Alvarez and Martin Grogaard, tried to give it a run in the fourth quarter, but Villagonzalo, Fernandez and Viliran held fort for Julia’s Resto.
Villagonzalo finished with 20 points while Fernandez, Viliran and Rodriguez scored 12, 11 and 10 points, respectively.
M. Grogaard had 23 points in a losing effort for Visayan Ballers. His teammates Alvarez netted 12 points and Dicdic had 11 markers.
