Toledo dominates Lapu-Lapu chessfest

Ademar Toledo bested 44 other chessers to win the 2007 Lapu-lapu City Fiesta Individual Chess Tournament held at the Lapu-lapu City Auditorium.

Toledo went undefeated in the 5-round Swiss system tournament.

Rito Bastida settled for the second place honors after losing to Toledo in the final round.

Bastida, along with Arthur Castaños and Aldwin Daculan, actually had four points after the fifth round, but Bastida snatched runner-up honors after the tiebreak. Castaños grabbed the third place while Daculan was fourth. Felix Poloyapoy completed the top 5 cast in this Lapu-lapu City Fiesta committee-sponsored event. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
