Asturias Invitational cagefest off Nov. 18

Six teams will vie for the championship of the Barangay Bago, Asturias Invitational Cage Tournament that opens this Sunday at the Bago Sports and Cultural Complex.

The teams will play a single round robin with its local players with the top four teams advancing to the semifinal rounds. The top two teams after this round play in the best-of-three finals. The losers will play a knockout game for third place.

During the finals, the teams can add three commercial players to reinforce their teams.

The champion of the tournament will go home with a handsome trophy and the P20,000 cash prize. The second, third and fourth placers will receive P15,000, P10,000 and P5,000, respectively.

Barangay Kagawad Carmel Mondreza informed The Freeman of the teams that confirmed their participation: Tuburan Dribblers, Colonia Stars, Arpili Residences, Knights Café, ASA Cagers and Langub Little Giants.

After a simple opening ceremony, the tournament starts with a double-header. Colonia plays Knights Café in the first game, while Arpili Residences take on the Langub Little Giants on the nightcap.—Dennis A Montebon
