Villono tops 4th Senior Golfers Fellowship tournament

Alta Vista’s David Villono topped the 4th 2007 Senior Golfers Fellowship Tournament held recently at the Mercedes Plantation Golf and Country Club in the northern town of Medellin.

Villono fired nines of 38 and 39 for a gross score of 77 strokes edging Joe Rodriguez of the host club for the lowest gross plum.

Rodriguez however bagged the title for the young seniors’ category shooting a net score of 62 in the course designed by top Filipino pro Frankie Miñoza. Pete Cantillas of Leyte Golf and Country Club finished second for the class with a net score of 66 while second runner-up was Mari Miranda also of Mercedes with a net score of 68.

Romeo Ancajas won another title for the hosts as he topped the mature seniors class shooting a net score of 64.  First runner-up was Alta Vista’s Rolly Santos with a net score of 65 while second runner-up honors went to Amado Villadar also of Mercedes with 70 strokes.

Felipe Ventulan of Mactan Island Golf Club topped the super seniors class shooting a net score of 63 strokes.  First runner-up was Larry Ocheda of Club Filipino with a net 69 while second runner-up was Florentino Lleva of Mactan with a net score of 74.

Boy Balmaceda ruled the guest division shooting a gross score of 79 and finishing with a tournament-best net score of 57 strokes.  Runner-up honors went to Tony Teves with a net score of 66.

The next fellowship event of the Federation of Philippine Senior Golfers Inc.-Cebu Chapter will be held at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club on the third week of December.—NLQ
