Emhel Dorelle Samillo and Hanna Joie Soon gun for the gold in Youth C Latin, while Jefferson Pimentel and Virgiane Oyao as well as Kevin Miñoza and Rhoda Mae Fernandez are the team’s brightest hopes for glory in the Youth A Latin competition.

The tandems of Martini Louis Tezon-Angle Louise Bardos, Niño Malazarte-Sabrina-Bogart, Vince Jansen Dacua-Marion Nilsson, and Maurice Lance Tezon-Marie Laudine Tezon will all be taking part in the juvinile class.

“Most of them are beginners. I really don’t want to push them up if they’re not ready. But the enthusiasm and discipline they’ve shown and the time they give for practice makes me feel they’re ready. More importantly, they have the potential,” said Ingan,  a decorated dance athlete who has attended various seminars conducted by prominent figures in the world of dancesport.

Ingan, who considers Michael Mendoza as his mentor, is proud that from only four couples since the group was formed three months ago, their members shot up to close to 50 this time.

“Our goal is to help build a total person in children and young adults by the discipline of dancing, but conducting workshops not onle in physical dance, but also in helping develop good and healthy attitude to attain high self esteem, good moral values, and interity, and awareness in civic involvement in the community,” said PDTCI adviser Cely B. Chiongbian.

“To become more effective, we emphasize the involvement and participation of parents or guardians in the development of the children. In that way, we can create a sense of bonding and healthy athmosphere among their respective families,” added Chiongbian.—EBV
