ACT stays unbeaten in Lapu’ hoop

The Asian College of Technology (ACT) Cyber Knights played hot and cold over the weekend but still remained undefeated in the ongoing Lapu-Lapu City Fiesta Open basketball tournament.

ACT beat San Remigio Beach Club, 101-81, Saturday and then edged Cebu Fortune Printing, 107-106, last Friday, for a perfect 5-0 win-loss card.

The Cyber Knights were hot against San Remigio whom they dominated from the starting whistle with six players scoring in double figures.

The opposite happened in their game against Cebu Fortune Printing. Despite the high-scoring game, ACT could only put their acts together in the final two minutes with Cyril Pontemayor capping a 13-2 run with a triple.

The Cyber Knights aim to sweep the elimination round but Tribu Shongo, another undefeated team with a 4-0 slate, is raring to test the Knights. The team boasts of Alex Mangubat and his two former USP teammates Arletoy Mercader and Dominic Ceniza.

Coach Merced said that his team’s 5-0 win-loss card is a very good indication of his team’s preparedness to compete in the 1st Carcar City Mayor’s Cup set for this Friday, October 12 at the Carcar City gym.
