Lovelyn Guioguio made the relatively flat layout of the par-72 Cebu Country Club look so easy yesterday as she carded five-under-par 59 points to help Del Monte seize the lead in the penultimate round of the WGAP Luzvimin Invitational Golf Tournament. Del Monte now has a total of 396 points on rounds of 191 and 205 in this team event using the Molave Points System. A team can field a maximum of six players, but only the four best scores would count for the total in the round.
Guioguio, who opened the tournament Wednesday with a score of one-over-par 53 points, pushed defending champion Del Monte to a seven-point lead over first round leader Manila Southwoods in the premiere Diamond division.
Also counting for the team total yesterday were Eva Miñoza with 52, Kristine Leonen 48, and Marian Woo 46.
Southwoods has a two-day aggregate of 389 points on rounds of 193 and 196. Leading the team yesterday was Lora Roberto with 53 points followed by Regine de Guzman with 49 and Beachie Abiera and Carmelette Villaroman with 47 apiece.
Host CCC remains at third spot with 371 points on rounds of 186 and 185. Kathleen Uy led the Cebuanas with 53 points and was backed by Hannah Wong with 47, Stephanie Olea with 43 and Kristine Uy with 42.
Camp Aguinaldo is at fourth with 345 followed by Forest Hills (333), John Hay (295), and Mactan (223).
Ruby Division
Negros held sway in this category and maintained its hold of the lead with a total of 316 points on identical rounds of 158. Maite Ilustre led the team with 42 points and the others who counted were Aileen Chua 41, Gabby Monfort 41, and Queenie Bautista 34.
At second spot is still Sta. Elena with 313 points on rounds of 157 and 156. Tami Leung led the team with 42 points with Rio Co adding 39, Angie Co 38, and Nancy Ortiga 37.
Riviera seized the third spot with 312 points while Pamplona dropped the fourth with 307, Villamor is fifth with 291, Tagaytay sixth with 289, Alta Vista 7th with 269 and Bacolod is 8th with 265.
Pearl Division
Opening round leader Alabang pulled away from the rest of the field yesterday as is the virtual champion of this category. The team has a total of 289 points on rounds of 138 and 151. Carol Nielsen led the team yesterday with 39 points and was backed by Gina Tuason with 38, Ana Haurie with 37, and Videlyn Torralba with 37.
Cebu’s Club Filipino moved up to second spot with 266 points on rounds of 132 and 134. Eva Hino and Jeanette Chiu led the team yesterday with 36 points apiece while Lucille Colina added 34 and Remy Perez made 28.
Manila Golf is two points back with 264 followed by Wack-Wack with 262.
