All is set for the 1st Los Jefes de Cebu Inter-Color Tennis Tournament this Saturday at the Casino Español de Cebu tennis courts.
Los Jefes tennis director Jun San Juan said the event, which is a reunion of sort for all members who played with the Los Jefes, serves as part of their preparations for the 30th PAL Intersports next month here in the Queen City of the South.
The last time Cebu hosted the annual sportsfest sponsored by Philippine Airlines was in 2001 where Los Jefes set a record for sweeping the titles in all six events - basketball, golf, bowling, billiards, badminton, and tennis - to win the overall championship.
Businessman-sportsman John Z. Pages, the latest member of the team, will serve as their skipper. Aside from being the regional head of the Philippine Lawn Tennis Association (PHILTA), Pages also sits as one of the Cebu City Sports Commissioners.
Pages will lead the Los Jefes 35 years old and above category, while Naga Mayor Val Chiong will spearhead their campaign in the 45-above division.
Completing the Los Jefes tennis squad are Roy Tabotabo, Alex Ngo, Danny Mella, Jun-Jun Cabrera, Adonis Lominoque, Romy Alejandro, Jo Camaya, Nestor Señor, Gerry Campo, Fritz and Joel Tabura, Fred Sipalay and Golak Garcia, Edwin Salazar, Bobby Espera, Honor Rama, Jeff Dico, Bambi Castro, Martin Javellanosa, Nanding Miranda, Benox Garcia, Rey Gorrea, Nene Montederamos, Ann Cuenco and Marichu San Juan.— Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
