The tandem of Mabel Parco and Dr. Tony San Juan alongside the pair of Hannah Wong and William Hong bagged the top honors in the 2007 Pepsi Junior-Senior Classic at the Cebu Country Club yesterday.
Parco and San Juan took the lowest net honors scoring rounds of 61 and 63 strokes for a total of 20-under-par 124 in the two-day event where a junior golfer is paired with a regular member of the club.
Wong and Hong fired rounds of 74 and 71 for a total of one-over-par 145 strokes to win the lowest gross honors.
In the Gatorade Division, 12-year-old Kalus Hofer played inspired alongside his dad Jet as they combined for 134 strokes on rounds of 68 and 66 to run away with the title.
First runner-up honors went to Hokuto Imai and Isuyoshi Koike scoring rounds of 74.5 and 68.5 for a total of 143 strokes.
Jun Haga and former jungolf standout Francis Jereza combined for rounds of 76 and 68 for a total of even-par 144 strokes to finish as second runner-up.
Rogelio Miguel del Prado and Jay Tremedal finished as 3rd runner-up with 149 off rounds of 77.5 and 71.5.
In the Pepsi Max Division, Pio Neri and his uncle Atty. Jovi Neri proved to be a winning combination firing rounds of 67 and 66 for a total of 133 strokes to claim the crown.
First runner-up after a three-way countback went to brothers Martin and Marco Mendoza with rounds of 70 and 65 for a total of 135 strokes.
Jan-jan Ybañez teamed up with the visiting former jungolf standout Kiyofumi Takahashi for rounds of 69.5 and 65.5 also for 135 strokes to finish as 2nd runner-up.
Third runner-up honors went to the team of Franz Ian Dy and his father Francis with 135 off rounds of 69 and 66.
Players took turns in hitting the ball until it is holed out. The handicaps of the teams were computed by adding the handicaps of the two players and dividing the total by two.
The tournament serves as the culminating activity of the club’s summer junior golf program.
