The inaugural Visayas Amateur Athletic Association (VAAA) men's basketball tournament enters its crossover semifinal phase with a pair of knockout matches this afternoon at the University of San Carlos (USC)-Main gym.
In the first game at 5 pm, Bracket A topseed University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars will collide with the Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) Skyblazers, while the USC Warriors will host the similarly unbeaten Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras in the other sudden-death duel set at 6:30 pm.
The winners will then clash for the historic championship in a best-of-three affair, while the losers will slug it out for the third place trophy. Game 1 is scheduled at 6 pm on Monday still at the USC-Main gym.
USJ-R and USC topped their respective brackets after the double round robin classification round with similar clean 8-0 slates. SWU ended its elimination campaign without defeat in six games, while SCSIT posted a 5-3 win-loss record. (EBV)
