Sisos survive early assignments in World Cup qualifier

-
Sally Mae and Niño Siso opened their bid in the World Junior Cup qualifier in contrasting fates at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex tennis courts in Manila yesterday.

Sally Mae won her first game, but lost in the second while her brother, Niño, lost his first assignment but got lucky with a default game in the second.

Sally Mae clobbered JV Custodio, 6-0, 6-1, but bowed to Shaine Olivarez in the decider, 4-6, 6-4, 3-6.

"Naputol ang strings sa duha ka racket ni Em-Em. Kang Niño na iya gamit nga racket," said Sally, mother of the young Siso siblings.

Niño, for his part, lost to Juan Lorenzo Ferrer, 1-6, 2-6 but got a no-sweat win over a no-show Juan Paolo Cansino of Cagayan.

The Siso siblings, who are supported by Jonathan Guardo, Nick Pepito and Casino Español tennis group still has a chance to represent the country in New Delhi, India on April since the try-out is on a round-robin format. - Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
