Gabuya, Huang bag February title in DURABEND badminton

-
The tandem of Rick Gabuya and Wilson Huang dispatched Ronald Natulla and Lloyd Madera in straight sets to rule the February edition of the monthly DURABEND badminton tournament yesterday at the Racquet Zone of Montebello Villa Hotel in Brgy. Apas, this city.

Heading into the championship round with an immaculate 3-0 slate, Gabuya and Huang kept their sizzling streak by crushing Natulla and Madera in the first frame of the three-set showdown via a 21-11 decision.

Gabuya and Huang were too composed and tactical in their gameplan, bombarding Natulla and Madera with power smashes and well-calculated drop shots to finish off their foes with another convincing 21-13 triumph in the second set.

In the battle for third place, Allan Choachuy and Lawrence "Lord" Young dismantled Chris Tiong and Mark Pura also in straight sets, 21-16, 21-12.

Organizers by BIG AL's Production, the event was sponsored by DURABEND, the extra ordinary board, and Classical Touch in cooperation with the Cebu Sports Media Association (CSMA), United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) Lapu-Lapu Chapter under the leadership of Lord Young and Christopher Dy, and the newly-formed Architects Badminton Federation-Cebu Chapter.
